I wanted you to love me
  and
   you said I wasn't pretty enough to be so dark.

I wanted you to love me
  and
   you did - in the dark. in the shadows. but never in the light.

I wanted you to love me for me
 and
   when you didn't

I turned away from you and found
 another willing to love me
   the way I wished you would.

He
  wasn't dark skinned
          wasn't tall
                    was able
   to love the me he saw
      in the light. without changes.  beautifully.

I chose him over you
  because he was willing
       to put me before himself.

Showed me I could love me
  especially when you couldn't.

Best decision I ever made.
